Macro to Micro Fluorescent In Vivo Small Animal Imaging

Now researchers can take detection of fluorescent markers in small animals to a new level with the iBox Explorer 2 Imaging Microscope! The iBox Explorer 2 is unique in its ability to view macro to micro in the whole animal to individual cell, subcutaneously and within the body cavity of mice. The upright optics provide an ultra long working distance and high numerical aperture (NA) for detailed fluorescent in vivo imaging.

The iBox Explorer easily detects GFP/RFP and other fluorescent markers in small animals. The capabilities of this in vivo small animal imaging system enables research studies in whole animal down to individual cells.

Focusing on Fluorescent Cancer Cell Detection

In research performed, HT1080 fluorescent cancer cells were injected into the epigastrica cranialis. Immediately after the injection, the fluorescence indicates the cells escaped around the injection sites. In the zoomed in views, a cluster of cancer cells can be observed in the blood stream.

BioLite Xe MultiSpectral Light Source

  • Easy installation of the BioLite Xe external light source through the darkroom access ports
  • Epi fiber optic Xenon light source supplies uniform and directed lighting to the animal
  • Matched excitation/emission green fluorescent protein (GFP), red fluorescent protein (RFP) sets included; custom filter sets available
  • Eight excitation filter positions accommodate a variety of filters for specific applications
  • Six intensity settings from 0 to 100% relative intensity regulate the amount of illumination supplied through the fiber optic cable

Emission filters are placed in the darkroom filter tray. The neutral density filter passes emission wavelengths from 400-700nm. This filter is used for white light or non-fluorescent imaging. The long pass filter blocks blue light excitation and passes fluorescence.
